During the hearing on the recent gas price escalation, Advocate Qazi Ghulam Dastgir—Supreme Court Advocate and CEO & Founder of Value Court Advocate and Corporate Consultants—strongly criticized the federal government’s inconsistent and burdensome tariff structure. He argued before the court that the continuous increase in gas prices since 2013 has pushed the public into severe financial distress, with rates rising from Rs. 488 to Rs. 573 in 2013, and further climbing to Rs. 600 in 2015.
Advocate Dastgir told the court that these repeated hikes have created a deep economic crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, severely affecting ordinary citizens and industries alike. He emphasized that the unfair tariff adjustments and subsidies being diverted to other regions violate the principles of equity and justice. His arguments highlighted how the people of KP are disproportionately suffering due to the flawed federal policies.
His strong stance in court reflects ongoing efforts to protect public interest and challenge unconstitutional financial decisions impacting millions of consumers nationwide.
